Almiya — Dramatic Theatre at World Culture Festival Karachi 2026

Almiya is a dramatic theatre production presented at Studio 2, Arts Council Karachi as part of the World Culture Festival – Karachi 2026, running across the city from October 29 to November 22, 2026. Originally written by celebrated playwright Manav Kaul, the play has been faithfully directed and adapted for this production by Emran Farman. Almiya shines a light on the lives of women who give up everything for the men in their lives, only to be perceived through the narrow, reductive roles of the ideal daughter, the perfect wife, and the devoted mother. The result is a stirring melodrama in Urdu that asks uncomfortable questions about sacrifice, identity, and the cost of living up to impossible expectations.
