Local Pop-Up: Purani Yadein is a two-day nostalgia-themed Independence Day pop-up in Karachi presented by Local PopUp, designed to bring old Karachi back to life through the sights, sounds, textures, and colours of a shared childhood. Theme: The event is built around the idea that the best Independence Day memories were never the grand ones — they were the crowded footpaths, bargaining over 20-rupee jhandiyan, holding the ladder while someone tied the flags, and asking Abbu for "bas aur ek." Purani Yadein recreates those small but unforgettable moments across two evenings. Activities: Make your own jalebi straight out of the karahi Paint your own vintage film poster Paint your own gullak Paranda braiding Paper planes folded from old exam sheets Bazaar Nostalgia: The event draws inspiration from Karachi's iconic pre-mall bazaar culture — Jodia Bazaar (wholesale goods, spices, hardware, established 1947) and Bohri Bazaar (fabrics, jewellery, street food) — celebrating the art of bargaining, familiar shopkeepers, handwritten shopping lists, and the irresistible pull of "bas ek aur dukaan." The Lost Palette of Karachi: A special visual thread running through the event pays tribute to the iconic colours that define Karachi's streets and collective memory — the pink balconies, blue cabins, yellow chai chairs, red rooftops, and painted walls that watched generations grow up. Colour palettes featured include Raspberry Red, Royal Blue, Golden Yellow, Ruby Red, Olive Green, and Terracotta. Entry Policy: No stag entry. Each woman may enter with up to two male companions.
