SAMA — Un Autre Souffle

SAMA — Un Autre Souffle is a landmark fusion concert in Karachi, presented under the World Culture Festival – Karachi 2026, uniting French-Swiss pianist Joanna Goodale with musicians from Pakistan in a shared exploration of Sufi thought and Western Classical Music. The performance is designed to unfold organically — beginning with Joanna Goodale's solo piano and gradually expanding into a larger ensemble, eventually arriving at the collective, meditative sound of a Sufi gathering. This arc mirrors the spirit of sama itself: a journey inward through music. Joanna Goodale's artistry sits naturally at the intersection of classical performance, improvisation, and Sufi philosophy. Her project Bach in a Circle, in which she reinterprets Bach through a Sufi lens, is particularly central to this collaboration. She has performed across Europe and Central Asia, appearing at major festivals and national concert halls, and has been featured by Le Monde, France Musique, RTS, and the BBC.
